CHAPTER 06
Manuscript Volumes, Reference Volumes, and Reference Chapters
Keep manuscript chapters separate from reference material.

Manuscript volumes
These contain publishable chapters and contribute to manuscript word counts, continuation context, neighboring-chapter windows, and exports.
Reference volumes and chapters
Reference volumes sit before the manuscript and hold worldbuilding, source outlines, character notes, timelines, style references, and project instructions. They do not count toward manuscript length. Their chapters can use Markdown preview; manuscript chapters remain plain text.
Sources retain their type: manuscript evidence describes what has happened in prose, outline evidence describes planned events, and setting evidence describes world rules or background. A future outline must not be treated as an event that already occurred.
